Your First Monthly Meditation (Finally!) 🧘♀️
My Favorite Kundalini Yoga Meditation for Prosperity
As promised — this is the first monthly meditation I want to share with you.
Technically, I try to start a meditation at the beginning of a month because, knowing my sometimes confused self, it’s just easier to keep track that way. And honestly, I’m saying this out loud because I plan to share the next meditation at the beginning of April, and from then on, always at the start of the month. (Look at me, making plans! 😆)
So yes, still finding my rhythm — here on Substack, in life, in general. But I digress.
Let’s talk meditation.
Back on the Meditation Train… or Wagon?! 🚂
For the last year, I’ve been on and off the meditation train (or is it a wagon? Tell me! 😆).
I dabbled with different breath practices and stuck to one super simple breath meditation for a while:
✨ Inhale for 4
✨ Hold for 4
✨ Exhale for 4
(Maybe we’ll do a video on it at some point? 🤔)
But for some reason, I never really stuck with it for long.
If we don’t know each other yet, a quick side note: I used to practice and teach a lot of Kundalini Yoga. In Kundalini, Sadhana — your personal practice — plays a big role, usually done for 40, 90, 120, or even 1,000 days (long story, Google it if you’re curious).
I usually start with 40 days, see how the practice feels, then decide whether to extend or switch it up. But with this breath meditation, I NEVER made it to 40. And at some point, I just stopped.
And you know what? That was fine. I needed a break. Even from meditation.
So, I let myself just be for a while.
But Then… It Found Me Again 🔄
At the beginning of this year, something inside me shifted.
I started thinking about finding a new teacher, a new practice, something that resonated again. I wanted a regular practice, but I didn’t know exactly what or how or with whom.
I sat with that feeling for a few days, not forcing anything.
And then — three days in a row — I kept getting reminded of a Kundalini meditation I used to love but hadn’t done in forever:
✨ Har Meditation for Prosperity ✨
A Little Background on This Meditation 💡
According to Kundalini Yoga, prosperity comes through the heart.
3HO International describes it like this:
“The Sanskrit mantra ‘Har’ translates to ‘God as the Creative Infinity’ and affirms our ability to co-create. This kriya is a prosperity practice. It is an active combination of mudra (hand position) and mantra (sound) designed to bring prosperity to your life.
This meditation stimulates the mind, along with the moon and Jupiter centers of the hands. It’s the coming together of Moon and Jupiter that’s said to create wealth.”
How to Practice It 💫
🧘♀️ Posture: Sit in Easy Pose, with a light jalandhar bandh (neck lock).
👀 Eyes: Focus at the tip of the nose or gently close your eyes.
🤲 Mudra (Hand Position):
Elbows at your sides, forearms at a 45° angle, hands at throat level.
Alternately strike the sides of your hands together:
Palms down: Jupiter (index) fingers touch, thumbs cross under (right under left).
Palms up: Mercury (pinky) fingers and Moon Mounds (base of the palms) touch.
🔊 Mantra: Har (pronounced Hud)
Chant continuously from the navel using the tip of your tongue.
26 Days In… And I’m Loving It ❤️
I’ve been practicing this meditation for 5 minutes every day since January 27th. By the time this newsletter goes out, that’ll be day 26!
If you want to try it, I included:
✅ A short video to show the mudra (above).
✅ Spotify link to the mantra (just click). (And spared you from my personal chanting — my neighbors just love me. 😆)
I’m pretty set on doing 40 days, maybe even 90. What about you? No pressure, as always. However:
✨ If you’re new to meditation, try it for a week.
✨ If you like it, extend for another week.
✨ Then after another week decide if you want to keep going.
There’s something beautiful about simply experimenting without pressure or expectations.
We can dive into that in another newsletter — how much is about pushing yourself into the practice, how much is about surrendering to it, and how much is just plain avoidance because you don’t want to face yourself. But I feel like we need a bit more time to get there.
Is This Meditation “Working”? 🤔
Has anything dramatically changed in these 26 days? — You may wonder…
Well, prosperity isn’t just about money, even so a lot of people seem to be practicing this meditation for exactly that reason, and yes — I have been thinking a lot about money lately (OMG, another can of worms! We’ll get into that in another letter. 😅). So yes, money is one thing I wanted to take care of this year and I’ve been definitely thinking and acting on that way more.
Is that a coincidence? Or the meditation? Who knows? And maybe it doesn’t matter.
Because here’s what does matter:
🔥 I’m not avoiding the topic anymore.
🔥 I’m looking into it.
🔥 I’m finally moving things around, which I probably should have done a long time ago (better late than never).
However, a suitcase of money hasn’t magically fallen into my lap (though that’d be nice 😆). But my relationship with money seems to be shifting.
And honestly? That’s enough (for now).
The Real Gift of This Practice 💛
At the end of the day, the biggest shift has been how much I enjoy sitting again every morning. At the moment that looks like this:
☕ 5 minutes of breath meditation.
🧘♀️ 5 minutes of this prosperity meditation.
🌿 A few minutes of silence.
That’s it. Nothing huge, nothing major. But it makes me feel more organized, more connected. And at the core, that feeling of connection is what makes me feel “wealthy” anyway.
If you’ve been looking for a new practice or some inspiration to start one, maybe this is it?! 💫 Give it a try.
And Let’s Talk! 💬
Have you ever done a mantra meditation before?
Will you give this one a try?
What does prosperity mean to you?
Would you like a video with me explaining the meditation next time? Or even an audio meditation?
Let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear your thoughts! 💛
Yours,
Thank you so much for this inspiring newsletter. We’re all in a process somehow….what I really love about your approach is your down-to-the ground attitude. No promises, no expectations, no life-ever-changing experience….just a try. Like an experiment. I’ve known all of these practises and still don’t practise them regularly. What if I tried. Just tried. So, this is my first day. My goal is 40 days….or at least a week or so. Let’s see. Everything I’ve ever read or heard from you resonates so much with me. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the reminder of this practice, dear Michi. I first learned it through you... was it 2 years ago? (Laura here – those two years certainly feel like a lifetime, but maybe you remember)... and at some point forgot about its existence. Glad you delivered it back to me. Just clicked play and started for as long as intuitively felt right, which turned out to be 5min. And through all of those five minutes I had a constant energetic shiver flowing through my body. I'll try to stick with it and see where it leads me to.
